Photography Lab Modernization Fundraising Campaign

The Clubhouse 4 Photography Lab is an essential part of Laguna Woods Village. It includes a photograph studio, a dark room, and a studio classroom. As the custodian of the Lab, the Camera Club mans and maintains the Lab equipment. The Lab and equipment in the facility are available for all residents and Club members to use with the assistance of Camera Club volunteers

The Camera Club provides photographers at all levels of expertise with many opportunities to enjoy the company of other photographers and advance their skills, by providing classes and showcases as well as mentoring and tutoring. In addition, the Camera Club provides services to other clubs and residents, including providing digital editing, printing, and various educational opportunities. The Club intends to expand its reach, providing more services than it has in the past.

Currently, services provided are severely hampered by outdated and second-hand equipment that lacks the ability to integrate with today’s standards. GRF provides nominal equipment replacements and repairs to meet the minimum standards but, requests for editing slideshows/videos, modern photography software and AI processing, are not available due to substandard equipment.

The Photography Lab Modernization Project establishes a platform for future growth in three to five year cycles so the Lab will continue to be better equipped as technology changes in the future. In addition to replacing outdated equipment, the project includes purchasing new equipment that has never been available in the Lab.
